BIO:

Winfried Häuser is a specialist in general internal medicine, psychosomatic medicine and pain medicine. He is associate professor of psychosomatic medicine, Technical University Munich. He is currently working as senior physician in the department internal medicine 1 (gastroenterology, hepatology, endocrinology, infectiology, oncology) and as consultant in psychosomatic medicine and pain medicine in the ambulatory health care center, Saarbrücken St. Johann. His research activities are fibromyalgia, psychosomatic aspects of bowel diseases (inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease) and epidemiology and health care services research of chronic pain. He is member of the Cochrane musculoskeletal Group.

He is the head of the steering committee of the German guideline on fibromyalgia and long-term opioid therapy in chronic non-cancer pain, member of the steering committees of the European guideline on fibromyalgia and of the German guideline on functional syndromes/somatoform disorders and member of the German guideline groups on celiac disease, Crohn's disease, diverticular disease, irritable bowel syndrome and ulcerative colitis.
